- Meeting ASPAN leaders in person, networking, and making connections
- Characteristics of a leader include self-awareness, vision, adaptability, work collaboratively, have empathy, are trustworthy, have integrity, communicate effectively, and are enthusiastic.
- Strategic plans are a representation of the vision that is created to drive the organization onward and into the future. Having a strategic plan helps to achieve goals, improve efficiency, and prepare for the future by ensuring that everyone is working towards the same vision.
- Benefits of specialty certification include improved patient care and safety, validates professional experience, strengthens credibility.
- One way to engage members and grow is to appreciate what they do and say thank you. Send thank you emails, cards, whatever we can do to make those who participate let them know they are appreciated.
- JBI Training Grant available: training grant is intended for education required for ASPAN JBI Systematic Reviewers. Application available on the ASPAN website under the clinical inquiry tab.
- ASPAN offers a free study group for members taking CPAN or CAPA. This is a 12-week study group that does not replace a prep course but provides additional support to supplement test preparation. The 12-week course occurs just prior to the testing dates in the spring and fall. It is recommended to attend the study group in the 12-week period closest to the test.
- Fellow of the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (FASPAN), the highest distinction that ASPAN confers. This is a professional recognition obtained through substantive contributions to the field of PeriAnesthesia nursing. The application and requirements can be found on the ASPAN website under the members tab.
